About Backup North

Backup North is an independent guide to backup power for Canadian homes. We aren't owned by, or paid to favour, any manufacturer, utility or installer. We write for homeowners who want a straight answer without a sales pitch.

How we check facts

• Product specifications come from manufacturers' published spec sheets.
• Rebate and program details come from the official program pages, which we link so you can check them.
• Typical appliance wattages are general estimates. We say so where we use them.
• Each page shows when it was last reviewed. Programs change, so always confirm before you buy.

Affiliate disclosure

Some links on this site may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, the retailer may pay us a commission, at no extra cost to you. This is how the site pays for itself. Commissions never decide what we recommend, and we include models and options we earn nothing from. Where a cheaper or free option will do, we say so.

Privacy

We don't use advertising trackers or sell data. We use privacy-friendly, cookie-free visitor counts to see which pages are useful. The calculator runs entirely in your browser; nothing you enter is sent to us. Retailers you visit through our links have their own privacy policies.
